SOAR was founded with one purpose in mind: to provide the most cutting-edge, modern therapy possible to individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.
…He who would learn to fly one day must first learn to stand and walk and run and climb and dance; one cannot fly into flying.
SOAR was founded in 2016 by Jim Matthews, a California native who transplanted himself to the pacific northwest in early 2015. Jim had worked as a school psychologist but wanted to do something more to help children and families.
So he started SOAR with the idea that creating a positive environment, where employees and families feel highly supported and successful, will result in better outcomes for children with autism and developmental disabilities. Jim’s hypothesis turned out to be true. Since opening in 2016, SOAR has grown to be the largest ABA therapy provider in Eastern Washington. We’re proud to serve over 200 families throughout Eastern Washington and employ over 200 people who are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in children’s lives daily. Additionally, SOAR operates two state-of-the-art clinics in the Spokane area as well as providing in-home therapy in the Pullman area. Furthermore, in 2019, SOAR expanded to Idaho in the Coeur d’Alene area, so that we can help children and families there too.
SOAR is proud to be a licensed Behavioral Health Agency through the Washington State Department of Health. Although this license isn’t required in Washington, SOAR holds itself to a higher standard and voluntarily elected to undergo the arduous process of state review and approval.
We’re certainly proud of what we’ve done, but we’re even prouder of our kids and families.
We are selfless in everything we do.
We create environments where everyone thrives.
To apply the most cutting-edge behavioral science to real-world problems facing people with autism and other developmental disabilities in order to have a life-changing impact that benefits them throughout their lives
